Malkangiri, Odisha - In a significant operation, the Border Security Force (BSF) uncovered a major Maoist arms dump during a search operation in the Gomphakonda reserve forest area of Malkangiri district. The successful operation led to the recovery of electric detonators, gelatin sticks, hand grenades, and Maoist literature. The targeted area near Marigetta village, under Kalimela police limits, was known to be highly dominated by Maoists.
Acting on specific intelligence, the BSF troops conducted the operation on Monday in the Naxal-infested Malkangiri and Koraput districts of South Odisha. The recovery of these items is expected to hamper the Maoist strategy and weaken their morale in the face of the growing dominance of the security forces.
According to a BSF release, the discovered items included 25 electric detonators, 108 gelatin sticks, 20 improvised hand grenades, and various Maoist literature. It is believed that the Maoists stored such materials in isolated and secluded locations to assemble improvised explosive devices (IEDs) for use against security forces and police operating in the region.
The BSF, which has been conducting relentless operations in the highly Naxal-affected districts of Malkangiri and Koraput, has made significant progress in dominating the area. The recovered arms and explosives signify a major setback for the Maoist organizations, as the security forces continue their efforts to establish a safer environment
