CSK vs GT, IPL 2023 Final Highlights: Jadeja's last-ball boundary helps Chennai win 5th title in thriller

The highly-anticipated final witnessed gripping moments, with Sai Sudharsan's explosive innings of 96 off just 47 balls propelling Gujarat Titans to an imposing total of 214/4. Sudharsan, a 23-year-old local talent from Chennai, showcased exceptional hitting skills, smashing eight fours and six sixes during his impactful knock. Wriddhiman Saha also made a valuable contribution with 54 runs off 39 deliveries, while Shubman Gill, the prolific opener for Gujarat, managed 39 off 20 balls.

Intermittent drizzles briefly interrupted the Gujarat Titans' innings, but play resumed smoothly without major interruptions. However, heavy rain poured down on the stadium after the third ball of the first over of the CSK innings, causing a significant delay. Although the rain subsided quickly, the wet outfield, particularly a problematic practice pitch near the square, required substantial preparation time. Eventually, the match was reduced to 15 overs, and CSK's target was revised to 171.

The truncated match unfolded as a thrilling contest, with CSK's batsmen mounting a spirited chase. Devon Conway, Ajinkya Rahane, Shivam Dube, and Ambati Rayudu contributed crucial runs, while Mohit Sharma, representing the Gujarat Titans, picked up important wickets to keep his team in the hunt. As the final over commenced, CSK required 10 runs off the last two balls. Jadeja, with nerves of steel, smashed a six off the penultimate delivery and then sealed the victory with a boundary off the last ball, setting off wild celebrations among the Chennai Super Kings players and fans.

In a dramatic finish, Chennai Super Kings secured their fifth IPL title, joining Mumbai Indians in the record books. This unforgettable final will be remembered for Jadeja's heroics, underlining his importance as a key player for CSK. Led by the legendary MS Dhoni, Chennai Super Kings showcased their mettle and emerged as deserving champions, capping off an exhilarating IPL season.
