The enigma surrounding Seema Ghulam Haider, a Pakistani national, and her decision to cross into India via Nepal with her four children to be with her partner, Sachin Meena, remains unsolved.
For the second consecutive day, the Anti Terrorist Squad (ATS) of Uttar Pradesh Police interrogated both Haider and Meena for a grueling eight hours before allowing them to return home.
Prashant Kumar, the special director general (law and order) of Uttar Pradesh Police, addressed the media on Wednesday and emphasized that all agencies involved are diligently conducting their investigations. He stressed the sensitivity of the matter, as it pertains to relations between two nations, and urged caution in making any accusations without substantial evidence. Haider has a previous record of being incarcerated but is currently out on bail. Further action is underway as authorities try to comprehend the situation.
The possibility of Seema Haider being a Pakistani agent is being explored, but Kumar denied any immediate plans for a UP Police team to travel to Nepal for inquiries.
During the Tuesday interrogation by UP ATS, Haider reportedly struggled to provide clear answers regarding her intentions behind illegally entering India. Intelligence Bureau officials were present during the questioning, and the IB has requested a report from the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), the central force responsible for guarding the Indo-Nepal border in Uttar Pradesh and Bihar.
According to sources within UP ATS, Seema Haider was probed about her relatives in Pakistan and the claims of her uncle and brother serving in the Pakistan Army. Haider refuted these claims, stating that her brother was merely preparing to join the army.
Seema Haider and Sachin Meena claim to have met while playing the online game PUBG, and their relationship blossomed through private conversations, eventually leading to love. They assert that they got married in Nepal in March of this year. Two months later, Haider, along with her four children, allegedly left Pakistan through Dubai and Nepal, ultimately arriving in Greater Noida.
Indian authorities are actively investigating the possibility of Haider being associated with Pakistan's Inter Services Intelligence (ISI) agency. The situation continues to be a matter of great interest and scrutiny as authorities delve deeper into the circumstances surrounding Seema Haider's entry into India and her relationship with Sachin Meena.
