Elon Musk Replaces Twitter's Blue Bird Logo with 'X'; Check Out Other Major Changes

Tesla CEO Elon Musk made a bold move on Monday by replacing Twitter's iconic blue bird logo with an "X," as part of a significant rebranding effort that has been teased over the weekend. This move brings the social media platform one step closer to Musk's vision of transforming it into an all-encompassing "everything app."

The change was first spotted on the web version of Twitter, where the old blue bird logo has been replaced by a white stylized "X" on a black background. Notably, the new logo is also being used as a badge to signify accounts linked to company employees.

Twitter's official account, @Twitter, has undergone a complete transformation as well. It is now renamed "X," and the profile picture displays only the new logo, with a bio that reads, "What's happening?!"

While other Twitter accounts, such as those for creators (@TwitterCreators) and verification (@verified), have also been updated with the new logo, some accounts, including the main support account (@TwitterSupport), still feature the traditional blue bird logo at the time of writing.

Musk's decision to replace Twitter's iconic bird logo may come as a surprise, given its long association with the platform. The blue bird, affectionately known as Larry, has been the face of Twitter for over a decade and is synonymous with the platform's brand identity.

However, Elon Musk's intention to turn Twitter into an "everything app" called 'X' has been evident for some time. The rebranding initiative has been steadily progressing, with the company changing its business name to X Corp and making backend adjustments. Musk's weekend announcement that the website "X.com" would redirect to Twitter was a clear signal of his vision.

In an unconventional move, Musk engaged with his followers to crowdsource ideas for Twitter's new logo, or "X's" new logo, in this case. He later shared an image of the chosen logo projected onto Twitter's headquarters.

Linda Yaccarino, the newly appointed CEO of X, expressed her excitement about the transformation, stating that X presents a rare opportunity to make a second big impression. She emphasized that this rebranding is just the beginning and that the team is dedicated to pushing the boundaries of the platform's evolution.

Elon Musk's wealth, estimated at $236.5 billion by Forbes, positions him as one of the world's richest individuals. His purchase of Twitter for $44 billion in 2022 has given him the means to implement drastic overhauls, including content moderation and verification policy changes, as well as staff reductions.

As the rebranding continues, it remains to be seen how Twitter's user base will respond to the new "X" logo and the platform's transformation into Musk's vision of an "everything app."
