Horrific Manipur Incident: Two Women Paraded Naked and Allegedly Gang-Raped

In a shocking incident that has sent shockwaves across the country, a distressing video has surfaced showing two women being paraded naked on a road by a group of men in Manipur. The incident, which occurred on May 4 in Kangpokpi district, some 35 km from the state capital Imphal, has garnered widespread condemnation and demands for swift action. The Indigenous Tribal Leaders' Forum (ITLF) has alleged that the two women were also gang-raped in a field.



The incident came to light after the video of the heinous act was widely shared on social media, revealing the gruesome abuse suffered by the victims. The ITLF, in a statement, expressed their outrage and appealed to the National Commission for Women and the National Commission for Scheduled Tribes to take immediate action.


While the police stated that the incident happened in another district, the first information report (FIR) was filed in Kangpokpi. Chief Minister N Biren Singh has ordered a high-priority investigation into the case, and Women and Child Development Minister Smriti Irani has been assured of swift action against the perpetrators.



According to a senior police officer, the survivors came forward to report the crime approximately 15 days after the incident. The polic


e have identified the culprits and are taking steps to apprehend them. Meanwhile, political leaders and citizens alike have expressed their shock and dismay on social media, urging the central and state governments to take strong action against the perpetrators.



The Manipur incident comes amidst clashes between the Meitei and Kuki tribes over the Meiteis' demand for Scheduled Tribes (ST) status. The violence and unrest in the region have been a cause of concern, leading to calls for the Chief Minister's resignation.
