London, June 15, 2023 : The body of a young woman was discovered in a residential building in London, and preliminary identification suggests that she is Kontham Tejasvini, a 27-year-old professional from Hyderabad's Hayathnagar area who was studying in the United Kingdom. Tejasvini had been residing in a shared accommodation, where a Brazilian man had recently moved in.
Tejasvini, who had been pursuing her Master's degree in London since three years ago, had plans to return to Hyderabad last month for her upcoming marriage. According to her father, she had temporarily left her job and was set to finalize the wedding arrangements upon her return. However, tragedy struck before she could fulfill those plans.
The London Metropolitan Police have apprehended two individuals in connection with the crime. One of them is Keven Antonio Lourenco De Morais, a 23-year-old Brazilian national, who was taken into custody near the crime scene in Neeld Crescent, Wembley. The second suspect, a 23-year-old man whose identity remains undisclosed, has also been arrested.
Tejasvini's cousin, Vijay, stated that De Morais had moved into the shared accommodation with her less than a week before the incident occurred.
The incident, which took place at around 10 am on Tuesday, also involved another woman, aged 28, who sustained stab injuries. Fortunately, her injuries were deemed non-life-threatening, and she was promptly transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.
Detective Chief Inspector Linda Bradley of the Metropolitan Police's Specialist Crime Command expressed gratitude to the public for their assistance in sharing information about De Morais, who is now in custody. She assured the community that a dedicated team of detectives is diligently working to unravel the events surrounding the incident. Local officers will remain present in the area to address any concerns from the public.
The loss of Tejasvini has deeply affected her family and the community, generating significant distress. The authorities are committed to pursuing justice in this case, and the investigation is ongoing.
