India Clinches Women's Junior Asia Cup Title with Victory Over Korea

India emerged as the champions of the Women's Junior Asia Cup 2023 after defeating Korea with a score of 2-1 in a thrilling final match held in Kakamigahara, Gifu Prefecture, Japan. This victory marks the first time that India has won the Women's Junior Asia Cup.

In the final match, Annu scored a goal in the 22nd minute, followed by Neelam's goal in the 41st minute, giving India a lead. Korea managed to score one goal in between, but India's strong defense held on to secure the victory.


The Indian team showcased their skills and determination throughout the tournament, with standout performances from players like Anjali Barwa and Mumtaz Khan. Mumtaz Khan finished the tournament as the top scorer and was instrumental in India's success.


The final match was a nail-biting encounter, with Korea putting pressure on India in the last few minutes. However, India's defense remained strong and managed to hold off the Korean attacks to clinch the title.


The Indian team secured their spot in the FIH Women's Junior World Cup 2023 in Chile by reaching the final of the Asia Cup. The Hockey India Executive Board has announced a cash prize of Rs 2.00 lakh for each player, while the support staff will receive Rs 1.00 lakh each.


The success of the junior team adds to the recent achievements of Indian hockey, with the senior women's team winning the Commonwealth Games bronze medal and the Nations Cup under the leadership of coach Janneke Schopman.


Indian hockey fans can now look forward to the upcoming Men's Junior Asia Cup final between India and Pakistan, which will also be a highly anticipated match.
