India Successfully Flight-Tests New-Generation Ballistic Missile 'Agni Prime'

June 08, 2023:

India achieved a significant milestone in its defense capabilities with the successful flight-testing of the new-generation ballistic missile, 'Agni Prime'. The test was conducted by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) from the Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Island off the coast of Odisha. Officials reported that all objectives of the test were successfully met.

Agni Prime Launch

This latest test marks the first pre-induction night launch of the Agni Prime missile, following three successful developmental trials. The test validated the accuracy and reliability of the system, further solidifying India's defense capabilities.

The test involved the deployment of range instrumentation, including radar, telemetry, and electro-optical tracking systems, positioned at various locations, including two down-range ships. These systems captured flight data throughout the missile's entire trajectory.

Senior officials from DRDO and the Strategic Forces Command were present to witness the successful flight test. The successful test paves the way for the induction of the Agni Prime missile into the armed forces.

Congratulating DRDO and the armed forces on the achievement, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh acknowledged the copy-book performance of the new-generation missile. DRDO Chairman Dr. Samir V Kamat expressed his appreciation for the efforts involved in the test launch.

The successful flight-testing of the Agni Prime ballistic missile represents a significant step forward for India in bolstering its defense capabilities and ensuring national security.
