Born on May 25, 1964, in Lisburn, Stevenson was the second of three sons. At the age of 8, he relocated to England and later enrolled in the prestigious Bristol Old Vic Theatre School. Graduating at the age of 29, he swiftly embarked on a successful career in the entertainment industry, captivating audiences with his versatile acting abilities.


Stevenson's breakthrough role came in 1998 with the film "The Theory of Flight," where he portrayed a gigolo assigned to assist Helena Bonham Carter's character in losing her virginity. This performance marked the beginning of his ascent to stardom. He further impressed audiences with his roles in "Punisher: War Zone," portraying the titular antihero, Volstagg in Marvel's "Thor" movies, and his portrayal of the infamous Irish mobster in "Kill the Irishman."


Most recently, Stevenson captivated audiences with his portrayal of a villain in SS Rajamouli's highly successful film "RRR." Additionally, he had recently signed on to replace Kevin Spacey in the upcoming film "1242: Gateway to the West," where he would have played the role of a Hungarian priest valiantly standing against the Mongol army.
