The Kashmir Zone Police swiftly reported the ongoing operation via Twitter, stating, "Encounter has started at Hoowra village of #Kulgam district. Police & Security Forces are on the job. One JKP personnel got injured. Operation in progress. Further details shall follow."

As the situation unfolded, authorities confirmed the elimination of one local terrorist whose identity and affiliation were being verified. Furthermore, they successfully seized a significant cache of weapons and ammunition during the search operation.

This counter-terrorism operation comes in the wake of security forces thwarting a major infiltration attempt along the Line of Control (LoC) in Kupwara district just days ago. The joint operation between the police and the army in the Kala Jungle area of Machhal sector resulted in the neutralization of multiple terrorists.

Previously, security forces had displayed their efficiency by eliminating five terrorists while foiling an infiltration bid near the LoC in Jumgund Keran, Kupwara district, a week ago.

The Kashmir Zone Police affirmed the successful operation in Kala Jungle, Machhal sector, through another tweet, saying, "In a joint operation, army and police have killed four terrorists in Kala Jungle of Machhal sector in Kupwara who were trying to infiltrate to our side from POJK (Pakistan occupied Jammu and Kashmir)." The Indian Army's Chinar Corps also confirmed the recovery of "war-like stores" from the encounter site in their tweet.
