PM Modi Begins US Visit, Meets Indian Diaspora at New York's Lotte Palace Hotel

New York, June 21, 2023: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has commenced his official State visit to the United States by arriving in New York. During his visit, PM Modi is scheduled to meet with CEOs, Nobel laureates, economists, artists, scientists, scholars, entrepreneurs, academicians, and health sector experts. Today, he will also attend Yoga Day celebrations at the UN HQ.

In a show of support, members of the Sikh community expressed their pride in PM Modi's visit, highlighting his efforts for the community and India as a whole. The community reiterated their stance against terrorism and their commitment to fighting it alongside India.


During his stay at Lotte New York Palace Hotel, PM Modi took the time to interact with Indian diaspora representatives and signed autographs for children, including one by an 18-year-old Virginia resident who had created a portrait of the Prime Minister.


PM Modi's arrival at John F. Kennedy Airport in New York was met with a warm welcome from Indian and American diplomats. Outside the hotel, members of the Indian community gathered, eagerly waiting to greet the Prime Minister, expressing their excitement and enthusiasm.

The visit is significant for strengthening ties between India and the United States, with the White House National Security Council emphasizing the importance of India as a critical strategic partner in the Indo-Pacific region. The visit aims to enhance collaboration in various sectors, including defence, space, and technology.
