Upgraded MiG-29 Fighter Jets Replace MiG-21 Squadron at Srinagar Air Base

To address security concerns from Pakistan and China, India has introduced an upgraded squadron of MiG-29 fighter jets at the Srinagar air base in Jammu and Kashmir. The Tridents squadron, known as the 'Defender of the North,' has replaced the previous MiG-21 squadron. This move enhances India's response capability to potential airspace incursions by Pakistan.


Iconic Clock Tower Transformed in Srinagar

Under the Srinagar Smart City Project, the historic Clock Tower in Lal Chowk has undergone significant renovation. The revitalized Clock Tower, named after Moscow's Red Square, aims to boost the charm of the city center and attract tourists. The inauguration ceremony was led by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha just before Independence Day.


Name Adjustment for Srinagar's Conference Center

After the abrogation of Article 370, Srinagar's Sheri Kashmir International Conference Centre (SKICC) might undergo a name change. The term 'Sher' (lion) has been omitted from official announcements, hinting at a potential shift in nomenclature. The center, located by Dal Lake, serves as a venue for government functions.
