UPSC Announces Results of Civil Services Examination 2022


New Delhi, May 23, 2023 - The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has revealed the final outcome of the highly anticipated Civil Services Examination 2022. Topping the prestigious exam is Ishita Kishore, followed closely by Garima Lohia in second place, and Uma Harathi N. securing the third rank.


Out of a total of 933 successful candidates, the comprehensive list includes 345 from the General category, 99 from the EWS category, 263 from the OBC category, 154 from the SC category, and 72 from the ST category. The UPSC Final Result 2022 also features a Reserve List of 178 candidates, including 89 from the General category, 28 from the EWS category, 52 from the OBC category, 5 from the SC category, and 4 from the ST category.


The top 10 candidates, namely Smriti Mishra, Mayur Hazarika, Gahana Navya James, Waseem Ahmad Bhat, Aniruddh Yadav, Kanika Goyal, and Rahul Srivastava, have exhibited exceptional intellectual capabilities and secured noteworthy positions in this fiercely competitive examination. Their accomplishments serve as a testament to the immense dedication and perseverance required to excel in the field of civil services.


The UPSC Final Result 2022 also discloses a total of 1,022 vacancies to be filled across various services. These vacancies are distributed among different categories as follows: 434 for General, 99 for EWS, 263 for OBC, 154 for SC, and 72 for ST candidates. The services encompass I.A.S., I.F.S., I.P.S., Central Services Group 'A,' and Group 'B' Services.


The UPSC Civil Services Examination, known for its intense competition, is conducted annually by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) to select officers for the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Foreign Service (IFS), Indian Police Service (IPS), and other Group A and B civil services.


The examination consists of three stages: the Preliminary Examination, the Main Examination, and the Personality Test. While the Preliminary Examination serves as a qualifying round, the Main Examination and the Personality Test act as determining factors for selection.


The Preliminary Examination consists of two written papers: General Studies Paper I and General Studies Paper II. The Main Examination comprises nine written papers, including General Studies I, II, III, IV, four optional subjects, and an essay. The Personality Test, conducted through an interview by a board of senior officers, holds paramount importance as it assesses the candidates' suitability and personality for the civil services.
